Plant Based

At Botani, we blend only the highest quality natural, organic and wild harvested plant-based ingredients from around the world. Our ingredients are chosen purposefully for their reparative, hydrating, protective and soothing properties in order to treat skin conditions in a gentle, effective way.

We source the highest quality natural and organic ingredients from the best sources all over the world, including Olives from Greece and the Mediterranean, Acai Berry from Brazil and Kakadu Plum from a little closer to home in the Northern Territory.

Wild harvested ingredients are grown organically, without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, GMO organisms, or ionizing radiation, just like many of us grown organics in our own backyards. A wild harvested producer may not have the resources to undergo organic certification, but their produce is still just as pure and nutritive!

Plant-based skincare offers multi-benefits: it’s better for your skin, your health, and the environment.

Botani Skincare is Vegan Certified. We pride ourselves on delivering beautiful skincare without compromising the health and well-being of animals. Our ingredients are free of animal and insect by-products. We do not use any animal derived ingredients such as beeswax, honey or lanolin.

We use a blend of quality, plant-based, vegan ingredients and natural essential oils within our formulations. We source and use organic ingredients where possible.

Our packaging is eco-friendly with sustainable materials used. We list our ingredients with pride, ingredients marked with an asterisk (*) are organically certified.

Botani is proudly 100% Cruelty Free certified by PETA

As natural beauty enthusiasts, caring for our natural environment and precious wildlife are just as important to us as caring for your skin! We take pride in being a 100% certified cruelty free brand, from sourcing to distribution, we NEVER test on animals and WILL NEVER supply to countries where mandatory animal testing on cosmetics applies.

There is no need to turn to the animal kingdom when sourcing ingredients for skin care products. We understand the skin implicitly, and know that many solutions to our greatest skin care concerns lie in the plant world.

Botáni’s hero ingredient, Olive Squalene, is just one example of the lengths we go to for animal protection. We have built our products and our brand around replenishing the skin’s own-built in moisturiser, Squalene, which begins to decline as we age. With shark oil being the primary source of Squalene for most skin care products, we source our Squalene from olives – a much more expensive and complex (but sustainable) exercise.

Not only has Botáni been recognised by global animal welfare association P.E.T.A (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), but we continue to support different animal projects.

We Love To Support Animal Causes

Zoos Victoria

Encompassing Melbourne Zoo, Werribee Zoo and Healesville Sanctuary, Zoos Victoria is a not-for-profit foundation that is committed to fighting animal extinction. Their goal is to be the world’s leading zoo-based conservation organisation, the Australian authority on native threatened species and the major facilitator of wildlife knowledge for conservation action.

Zoos Victoria works locally and globally to deliver tangible conservation outcomes, and in 2012, Botáni took part in one of their largest fundraising missions yet – Mali in the City.

A.R.R.O.W, the Australian Rescue and Rehabilitation of Wildlife Association

Botáni’s participated in a campaign where $1 from the purchase of every Olive Hand Cream went directly to animal wildlife rehabilitation.

Amazingly – we discovered that the Botani Olive Hand Cream is a favourite with the animals! It is gentle enough to use on baby Joeys’ delicate skin!

Lee McMichael, ARROW’s founder, came across Botáni’s Olive Hand Cream at the local shopping centre when she received a free 15 minute hand treatment. With a number of unfurred kangaroo joeys in her care with dry skin, she tried the hand cream on them and immediately noticed how well their skin responded!

Remaining hydrated and healthy, not only did their skin LOVE the hand cream, the joeys themselves loved the sensation of being massaged and moisturised. (If you have a pet or animal in need of an all-natural skin treatment product, click here to learn about Botáni’s suitable products.)

Botani believes in the beauty of all people, plants and animals.

Upon learning about A.R.R.O.W.’s success with Olive Hand Cream, Botáni’s products have quickly gained a cult following among the veterinary community and animal hospitals alike.

Further advocating and supporting the brand’s animal friendly products and philosophy, selected Botáni products can be purchased at Melbourne Zoo, Healesville Sanctuary and Werribee Zoo.

“I first met Botani when they decided to become a sculpture sponsor of Zoos Victoria’s Mali in the City exhibition – the flagship event of Melbourne Zoo’s 150th Anniversary celebrations. During this one-of-a-kind public art event, a herd of 50 artist-designed elephant sculptures were exhibited on the city’s streets and later, back at Melbourne Zoo.

In all interactions during our anniversary year in 2012, the Botani team were delightful and extremely enthusiastic. Our organisations share similar values and a passion for conservation, sustainability and wildlife, which made working together an absolute pleasure.

Botani really understood the importance of our work fighting the extinction of threatened species and helped our zoos not only raise awareness of this cause but also help celebrate a very important milestone in Zoos Victoria history. Botani went above and beyond during the campaign period, with promotion on their website, regular e-news as well as commissioning various national ad campaigns.

On a personal note, I can say that I have been converted to using the amazing Olive Skin Serum, Boost Balancing Moisturiser and the Rescue Eye Treatment! I even use the serum on my husband and toddler – it is fantastic!”
